Hi! I live in Orange County, CA and swim in Laguna Beach often, between 1.5mi and 3mi. I recently discovered swimming with a monofim (Finis foil) after a shoulder injury and I am now hooked! Ready to upgrade to a more serious monofin and would like to find open water surface finswimmers in my area. Pls msg me if interested. Thanks ~Sakina

I actually go swim at La Jolla Cove in San Diego every once in a while, so San Diego is totally an option.

Sounds like fun. My one attempt to dive at La Jolla was a day when the viz was less than three feet :( Maybe next time.

Have you looked into the Lunocet monofin? It's quite a piece of technology.

This was La Jolla today! Swim conditions, aquarium style:

I went for a short finswim in Laguna, it was the same conditions: glassy, clear, I cld see the bottom while surface swimming.

Did not look into Lunocet yet. I started looking into various monofin options a few days ago.. Holly cow, I had no clue how pricey those guys were! I'll have to wait and save a bit before getting my upgrade. Maybe a used one in the meantime, IDK.

Yeah, wish La Jolla had looked like that when I went. It was like pea soup, though. I live in the Central Valley and it sucks because diving is a hit or miss thing, and it takes at least three hours to get to the nearest spots.

You may want to check the Goods for Sale. Someone may be selling a used monofin in there. I wouldn't call the Lunocet cheap, but it is innovative and very interesting.
