Hey guys,

I have a Nemrod Classic http://www.spearfishingstore.co.uk/spearguns/spearguns-rubber/nemrod-classic-90-cm-speargun.html speargun, and I would like to buy a more professional gun. I use it in the Aegean Sea for reef hunting.

My first choices are:
Beuchat Marlin http://www.scubastore.com/scuba-diving/beuchat-marlin/5150/p
Seacsub B-Combat http://www.scubastore.com/scuba-diving/seacsub-b-combat/127300/p
Cressi Mohicano Camu http://www.scubastore.com/scuba-diving/cressi-mohicano-camu/64987/p
Mares Phantom Speed http://www.scubastore.com/scuba-diving/mares-phantom-speed/11483/p

All in 95 cm size. Which one should I buy? I would appreciate any other suggestions too. :)

Cheers,
biomech

I don't think the Beuchat comes in a 90? but I don't think you will go wrong with any of them.

Pathos Laser open or Saragos!

just changed all my guns to these, they're awesome!

Thank you guys, for the replies! :)
Speardaver, I'll check them!
Any any opinions on Salvimar Voodoo Rail?

Dont buy Salvimar Voodoo, they have a lot of problems with trigger mechanism jamming up.

Get a Pathos gun. Affordadle, cheaper than the big name guns but a lot better in quality and performance.

Had to laugh when I saw the picture of that one:

I have the white handle on one of my spearguns half taped-up black rather like that. The reason for doing that - if you haven't already guessed - is to hide the easy-to-see white handle while I am gripping it for shooting. However I want the easy-to-see white of the handle visible when I am not holding it - for example when dispatching/string fish. Never thought it would find its way into a product!

As Foxfish said, they are probably all good, all better than average. That said, I really rather like the look & specification of the Mares - is that a "cuttle fish" -shaped barrel? excellent - comes with optional Dyneema wishbone too (hope the spear notches were smoothed to handle that). Yes, for what its worth, that would likely be my choice (of those listed). :)

Although I'd probably go for the 75 & 110cm! Don't think I need the reel but nice to have the option included in the price.

Thank you, Mr. X, but I've already got my new gun, a Pathos Pro. It looks really nice, and tough. :) Unfortunately I have to wait for three weeks before I can try it :(

Pathos have the best off the shelf speargun IMO. Everything is quality. From the handle, bands, shaft...

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Hey guys,

Finally I could try my new gun in Turkey.. :)
The result is:

1.4 kg, 43 cm mullet fish ('kefal'), my new personal record :)

However, I realized again that equipment is only one thing, practice makes perfect.. :)
So I have to practice much much more.. :)

Well it seems to work :) I usually dive with my 75cm Omer XXV, as it is good is most conditions but we were blessed with unusually consistent good weather on holiday this year that I eventually switched to my 90cm Omer XXV which I must grudgingly admit did work better in the relatively clear conditions encountered.

I really like the look of that Mares Phantom Speed (did you have to draw my attention to it!) & the price seems reasonable given the features - unfortunately DiveInn/scubastore don't currently offer the 110cm version and I am happy with current 75 & 90cm spearguns. Typical!
