Hello Everyone,

Been practicing Static Apnea since April 2018 and so far I absolutely LOVE IT! It is now part of my morning routine and I wouldn't change it for the world. I very much enjoy getting up nice and early in the morning to complete the table and then continue on with my day. Currently my tables are:

CO2
Warm up and Cool down of 1min30sec. 6 rounds of holding for 1min55 and breaks decreasing from 1min30 to 30seconds.
02
Warm up and Cool down of 1min30sec. 6 rounds of holding for 1min55 (increase by 5 seconds each round) and breaks of 1min30.

My routine is to complete 2 weeks of C02 and then move on to 2 weeks of 02. This is done every day. After the 4 week period I do the same tables again but this time adding 5 seconds to my breath holds while the rest period always remains the same. With these tables I am gaining 5 seconds every 4 weeks which equates to 65seconds gain per year.

PB = 3min36seconds

So far these exercises are very calming yet extremely easy. I'm not at the point of really pushing myself with an almost 0% failure rate.

Reason for post: Just looking to get peoples opinions or ideas on how i'm doing. I'm treating this like a marathon and not a sprint and I think my body will love me for that. Much thanks!

I think what you are doing so far is great. Training benefit comes from accumulated training hours/volume (or as you put it, marathon not sprint). especially in the early stages you want to train 'easy', accumulate hours of training, and not risk sudden over training.

My suggestion to you would be to learn about periodization. The method you are using in not indefinitely-sustainable. At a certain point the times will get harder and daily training and/or linear 5s/month progression will no longer be possible and a new method will be needed.

I will say that you are showing great discipline in your training though.. Many people get over-excited that their training is too-easy, make it too hard, and become over trained. So for now, stick with what you're doing and see where that takes you..

yep , and you ( me :) ) start to fail and failure becomes such a big thing that most of the time puts you off from breathold
I pushed myself to 4 min mark in couple of weeks and then every breathold even shorter ones sucks
