This weekend we've got our yearly big international pool compeititon in the Netherlands. 53 competitors from 8 countries. We've got a tradition of publishing the announcements online on our website a few days before the real comp so everybody can make a guess about who's going to be the winner... Take a look at http://14dec.immersion.nu and click 'announced performances'...

Who's that guy that subscribed 175 meters for dynamic? Hmmm :D

Wow there's some pretty big names there.. I don't think anyone could be confident in picking a winner! :D My money is on Herb though :D

Good luck to everyone that's going in it!

I tried to find the results of the 1st Dutch freedive inn on the website but it seems confusing and hard to navigate! If I remember, Stig won last year by a large margin (7'23", 150m) -- or was that a different competition?

Static vs Dynamic Ratios

Interesting stats and a nice size sample of data to play with. We see rules of thumb for constant vs dynamic but I haven't seen one for dynamic vs static......I'm sure Eric has one :). I looked at the average ratio between announced static and dynamic performances and then applied them to some standard increments and got the following. It gets a bit out there towards the end but I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on it and if anyone has done some more thorough investigations (Eric?) It seems pretty close for a lot of performances here in Australia and also for the Cyprus and Hawaii comps.

This weekend seems really interessting regarding the dynamic with fins title.

In Berlin Stig and Peter P. made some subtle remarks about Stig planing to break the 200m barrier in Einhoven. If Herbert is going to compete I guess he will also go for the record.

Martin Stepanek announced an official record attempt for this weekend, also in dynamic with fins. However, there's still no comfirmation on the AIDA-page that he's achieved the prerequired performance. Does anyone know how he's proceeding?
