Lake: Lake Mendota

When: Sunday May 25th, 2008 At 9:00am

Why: Because it's there.

Who: All Spearos and Yo Momma

I say we give this Lake a Shot. From last years Reports it sounds like a good lake. Lots of Carp, Crappie, Gills and Perch. Everything on my List. :friday I haven't determined which area of the lake we will meet at. I was thinking Governors Island.

I know it's Memorial Weekend and all- So I understand if some of you can't make it. And As always a T-Shirt will be given away to the one who slays the most Carp.

please help control the pet population. Have your pets spade or neutered.

I'll be there!
READY TO KILL! :martial

50/50. Would love to, what kind of diving is it. Average depth ect? If I do this I will have to bring a friend, and hes new right now, but a keen learner and a swimmer so hes pretty good in the water, but still Id like to know.

It depends- I was thinking of sticking around Govenors Island - so, It CAN be 15' but if you go out a little ways it drops. I'll go where the fish are- I'm thinking by then- the fish will be in shallow- in the WEEDS. It's going to be PRIME TIME. I'm hoping to have my boat there as a platform- people can use to get out of the water and store some stuff- But I think we'll pretty much stay there. I'll look at a map and get more details as we get closer.

This time it's not the Army keeping me away, I have a batchelor party to attend. Have fun.

Reactions: Whopperhead
I think I will come, but my family is not interested in attending. If I can bring a friend or two, I will let you know. And Im not a bad cook, so let me know what we need and Ill whip some up.

Fleshy- are you talking about the YEAR END EVENT in OCTOBER? I wasn't planning on bring food to this event. Other than maybe a Clif Bar and a water.

Oh, cool. Either way, Im down. Lol thats me always thinking with my stomach. rofl

well you know i am down fo sure but i have to see what my work looks like i may have off and again i may not i may even go for a few hours so yea ill be there LOL

OK, I'm a possible. I have off Sat-Tuesday. Batchelor party is next weekend.

TASS: All depends on how your feeling - huh?

For all you GPS/Nav people - you can use the address:

Cinder Ln,
Madison, WI

That will get you to the road that goes down to Gov's Island- from there- Go towards the lake and when you can 't go any further- Off to the Left is where We can enter the water. I may or may not have my boat there- If I do- It'll be in the water off to the Left and I'll have the Dive Flags up.

Remember: you can always use a MAP. Don't forget Fishing Licenses

Ok, the boat is good to go- so, I'll have it there so people can store their stuff- I'll have a cooler- if you want to keep some water cool.

JUST to clarify - we are meeting at Lake Mendota on SUNDAY. at around 9am. I've heard some people mention Monday- NO- NO to MONDAY.

Hi guys! Good to know You still and always up to something positive

I can't promise but will do my best to be there

Nostres - long time no see- If you do plan on making it let me know- i can arrange to meet you- so you don't have to try to find it on your own- unless you have a NAV system- then you'll be good to go. Should be fairly decent vis and the fish should be in.

I'm still planning on going to Lake Mendota- according to the Weather- the rain/storms are suppose to hold of till the afternoon sometime.

9am - Gov's Island - Lake Mendota - will have my boat there.

T-shirt to the one who shoots the most carp for the day.

I'll be there...Just finished loadin' the van with my gear. I might even be in the water BEFORE 9:00! :t

See you guys in the A.M.!!!....

Hey Whopperhead...You still gonna use your old "Atoll" float? If not - how much ya want for it? Lemme' know...I'm sick of my "pole" float...Been usin' this little raft lately...Works awesome...And only 7 bucks...A little big though...But on most lakes...I WANNA BE SEEN BY BOATS! I'm afraid it (the raft/float) might suck in the wind tommorow!

Still workin' on my homemade "fiberglass" float...I have time to lay down only a few strips a night...So it's gonna take me awhile...Also found out I could just BUY a float for as much as I'll put into my fiberglass one...But I'm committed now...Already started making it! :head

WATER TEMP: 58 degrees
VIS (Gov's Island): 10 at best
VIS (North of Picnic Island) 30'+

The start of the day was questionable- Windy- cool air- vis didn't look promising. dotey and I launched the boat at Governors state park and cruised over to Gov's Island. We met up with BJPete and Bgill. We started our day over in Gov's Island - Bay- Saw alot of BIG Catfish and finally got into some Carp- There were also Freshwater Drum EVERYWHERE. Too bad those things don't taste like chicken.

BJPete stayed with us for a little bit and had to get going the rest of us got in the boat and cruised over to the other side of the lake (direct into the Wind) to the north side of Picnic Point- the vis there was GREAT! 30 feet + . I had dotey troll me behind the boat until I saw fish. WE got into some good fish- Lots of Crappies and bass- also some big Carp. I also saw one of the largest pike I've ever seen- The thing was huge!

I ended up with 9 carp, 1 freshwater drum and 6 crappies. I plan on working on some video for ya'll this week. Was alot of fun- too bad more of you couldn't of made it.

PICS: 1st-bgill's water entry, 2nd- bgill taking a shot, 3rd-bgill with a nice buffalo, 4th- big small mouth bass, 5th- catfish
