DEADLINE FOR WOMEN DIVERS HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIPS IS NOVEMBER 15, 2006
The Women Divers Hall of Fame™ (WDHOF) is offering 10 different scholarships in 2007 and the deadline for applications is November 15, 2006**. WDHOF offers scholarships in diverse fields such as marine science, marine archeology, technical diving, hyperbaric medicine, handicapped diving, etc. WDHOF scholarships are available to women as well as men of all ages who wish to pursue higher education & training, further their career goals, and seek out opportunities in the aquatic and diving-related industries.
The Women Divers Hall of Fame is a (501c3) nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and raising awareness of the contributions of outstanding women divers. WDHOF provides educational, mentorship, financial, and career opportunities to the diving community throughout the world.
Since its inception in 2002, the WDHOF Scholarship Program has become the premier venue for scholarships in the diving industry. WDHOF has awarded dozens of scholarships and internships worth thousands of dollars to qualified individuals throughout the world.
Applications for all scholarships administered by the Women Divers Hall of Fame can be downloaded on the WDHOF website: www.wdhof.org All applications for 2007 scholarships must be completed in full and submitted electronically by November 15, 2006 (** with the exception of The Undergraduate Marine Research Internship Scholarship whose deadline is January 15th).
All scholarship recipients will be notified in December 2006 and they will receive their scholarships at the WDHOF Annual Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at the 2007 Beneath the Sea Expo in Secaucus, New Jersey in March.
WDHOF is offering the following 2007 scholarships:
Women Underwater Scholarship - awarded to a woman diver to continue her education/training in the area of technical diving.
Cecelia Connelly Memorial Scholarship - awarded to a woman diver who is enrolled in an accredited course of study in the field of Underwater Archeology.
Hugh Fletcher Memorial Scholarship - awarded to a dive master, assistant instructor, or instructor to gain the required education/training to assist or teach the disabled to dive. Candidates can be male or female (on alternate years, this scholarship is awarded to a disabled male or female diver).
Ocean Pals Scholarship - awarded to a female (age 13-18) and to be used towards a diving related educational program.
Reimers Systems Scholarships (2) – awarded to a diver to be used towards a CHT hyperbaric medicine course. Candidates can be male or female.
Scuba Made Easy Scholarship - awarded to a woman diver working in the areas of marine sciences, oceanography or ocean engineering.
Undergraduate Marine Research Internship Scholarship - awarded to a female student who is participating in a marine biology internship.
Hillary Viders, Ph.D. Scholarship - awarded to a woman who is enrolled in an accredited course of study in the field of marine science and conservation.
Women Divers Hall Of Fame Scholarship - awarded to a woman diver and to be used towards a diving related educational program.
The Women’s Scuba Association Scholarship - awarded to a participant in the Navy’s NJROTC or NROTC program. Candidates can be male or female.
