50m Dynamic Apena Question

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yes this is true - Malmo is indeed in Sweden :D

There are some odd freediving events out there - this is one of them. Another, more common one is the 16x50m (with fins). The kind of things you like to read about then assume they must all be mad for attempting. Then there are the ice diving events, dynamic rubiks cube, the list goes on....

20 x 50m, Dynamic no fin record
This is, as fastest you can, swim 20 times 50m without fins,
19'43", Bill Strömberg from Sweden, 970808 in Malmö, Sweden

????

Well how about doing 25 in as few armstrokes and legkicks as possible.
Last time I heard about it it was some like 3 armstroks and 2 legkicks?
Is there any videos out there to see more of these "records" ???:t

Every time that I see this record, I shake my head in disbelief. It's takes me a minute to just to do 50 meters in a 25 meter pool. Bill's pace is 50 meters every minute for 20 minutes! Did he just take a breath at the end of each 50 meters and go under for another 50? I can't imagine doing a 50, coming up, taking a breath, and doing it again, and again. I am tired and breathless just thinking about it.

I originally thought this must a With Fins record. So, No Fins makes it more amazing. This was a real feat.

Peace,
Glen

Hi Glen,

This record is for real. With witness and also 2 lifeguards present.

Back in 1997 i just quit my swim career and had start to do a lot more adv freedive training in pool. In this record my pace was 43-44 sec per 50.
I start every one minute, so I had 15 sec in-between, and I'm still angry on myself that I didn't swim faster o the last one :)

One week after I did 120m DNF, this with a normal swimmers-start from the block. (back then the official WR was 125m)

My pb for 50m breaststroke with dolfinkick is 28,5 sec, 25m pool. And breaststroke was/is my worst swimstyle...

regards
B
