Hi everyone,

I’m about to order my first proper wetsuit and i really could need some help/recommendations. :) By now i just own a 1mm triathlon suit, which is fine in the pool but is of course not suitable for lakes or the European sea. Since I’m from Munich most of my dives will be in the nearby lakes (and the pool - training!). Although there’ll be some trips to for instance the mediterranean sea or the Canaries i definitely think of getting a 5mm suit. Btw I easily get cold.

I am a recreational freediver and I'll be diving depths up to 30m.

Well, i did some research and got a lot of recommendations for ELIOS-suits. Most of you might know that they got a variety of neoprenes, different linings, coatings etc. I have to admit: I´m overwhelmed. I think i won’t need „smooth skin“ on the outside and I’d rather prefer „super stretch nylon“ e.g. because it seems to be more durable. On the inside i’d go for open cell, since it keeps you warm a bit longer. Soapy liquid to put it on is fine. Does anyone have tipps concerning open cell coatings? The whole suit should be as soft and stretchable as possible despite its thickness of 5mm.

I am a bit helpless when it comes to the different neoprene types. You can read Black Shadow, Heiwa, Yamamoto 45, Daiwabo … What are the Pros and Cons of the various types and which one might be suitable for my requirements?

Thanks in advance for hour help.

Regards,
Dominik
