You know, I've had the same trouble. This system doesn't like Sinky! DeepThought can't give him karma, I can't give him karma . . . Sinky, what did you do in a former life that has you in such bad straights? Naughty, naughty . . . probably comes from too little sleep!
:D

After reading this fascinating tread, I decided to start my own research.
The whole idea seems a bit dangerous to me so I will use some of the freediving safety rules, when I go to sleep on my futon tonight;

1) I will definetly will not engage in sleeping activity without a partner nearby, who has adequite safety training (my wife should be a perfect candidate).

2) I will not hyperventilate before falling asleep.

3) I will remove snorkel from my mouth as I fall asleep and make sure I don't equalize my ears as I am waking up.

4) I will not sleep again within next 12 hours if I detect signs of LMC upon waking up.

etc .... ....

I have slept on a Futon ( japanese for hard bed that stupid westeners sleep on ) for the past 10 years and the best thing it has done for me is to enable me to sleep anywhere.
Nothing is to hard, even a tile floor was soft but that could have been from being absolutly maggoted.
Now camping is a breeze, can get a quick nap on the boat floor while going to a dive site, the only problem is i cant sleep on Hotel beds i feel like im sinking into them.
Hotel beds or inner spring beds are better for shagging on you get more recoil the old Futon certainly makes you work a bit harder.

No, seriously, Adrian. I looked at the brochure and you've seem to come up with the right combination of materials that, for once, would make a comfy futon mattress.

However, I do not condone your unnecessary use of Methuselah trees for wood slats. That's a little excessive, don't you think?

rofl rofl ... oh stop i can't anyone rofl rofl

My former life? I was an interior decorater for the Department of Motor Vehicles in the late 60's. As you can see...my work has really held up over the years.

I hate to admit it, mostly because I realize it's true...but Crusty is right. Even my short stint as a Futon slave has left me able to sleep on a bed'o'nails...while Gabriel is blowing his horn in one ear....and the Galapagos Philharmonic Kazoo band is playing "Ride of the Valkries" in the other.

Although I do admit, and you'll notice is readily apparent in the previous threads....I've gotten quite spoiled with a broken in mattress. We haven't parted in years. It's like the bond between Western folklore characters....Paul Bunyan and Babe, or Pecos Bill and Widowmaker.

As far as the shagging/non-shagging capabilities of Futon vs. Hotel Beds goes, I wouldn't know. Sadly in my case, I don't get much combat pay these days, if you know what I mean.

But, to back up the Crust-meister...NOBODY NORMAL gets any really good sleep on hotel beds anyhow. Hell, you want to know about the ancient Egyptian secrets? Put any of your typical long-dead Pharoah on a standard hotel bed, and he'll wake from his millenium sleep to tell you how comfy his old bed was.

Uh I dare forget to ask, Adrian.....If and when I DO make it to Spain...will I be sleeping on this Futon of Rare Comfort? ha ha ha

Thanks Sinky I will be awake all night laughing now.
Island Sands I was going to send you a harsh reply about sleeping with harsh women. But then I read it again and it says slats. Sorry.

Sinky when you have written your first book, if you haven't already, can I please buy the first copy?

You have a talent that should not be wasted on the likes of, wait keep going I'll just copy what your doing and print my own book, complete with very clever illustrations.

Why aren't you in bed?? It's 18 past four in the arvo here, so must be late there, go futonise yourself.

Yikes! how did you get that info? That's my "Eat as You Sleep" futon for gluttonous snorers. As for your bed, I'm so striken with sympathy I'm scouring all the hotels for an adequate bed. :D

And since you said nobody normal can sleep on hotel beds, I'm sure you won't have any problems. rofl

By the way, I give a guarantee of 4700 years on my futons :D :D

As I sometimes hold my breath when I am asleep, does that mean I need someone to spot me?

Always sleep with a buddy!

I agree, Sands. Poida, you'll find the Sleep Buddy Safety Procedure Protocols in the Freediving Training section. The thread you might find interesting is "Mouth to South Resuscitation"

Before I dare ask...

I'm going to assume that you're referring to new diving organization, MUFF.

Multinational Underwater Fur Freediving

Not yet, Johnny.

But I plan on buying a Mink coat, Raccoon hat, Chinchilla earmuffs, Foxtail tie, Weasel watch, Alpaca pants, Beaver belt, and Otter underwear.

I'm really gonna show'em up at the next competition. I just hope my Dessaults get me back to the surface on time with all that crap on. Ha ha ha ha

I am afraid that MUFF diver's apnea perfomance, might suffer due to reduced vasoconstriction in their upper extremities and the increased drag induced by the red paint that get's thrown regularly on MUFF divers by the members of PETA.

Back to the original subject;
Does MUFF - "Multinational Underwater Fur Freediving" organization sanctions sleeping on the futons ?

HA HA HA HA HA!

Which PETA are you talking about? The animal rights group, or the Paint and Enamel Throwing Association? ha ha.

I'm not sure what their stance is on the sore subject of Futons (pun intended). I imagine anything that's not lined with some animal's hide is just not up to par, and therfore frowned upon. As I mentioned, I'm not a member yet. heh-heh.
