My only expertise with makos is in the art of avoiding them...
IMHO if they have been sighted around there , you have every likelihood that one might come in to investigate if it senses a speared fish , depending on the topography of the reef . If you have walls it will approach out of deep water , less likely if you have gentle rise and are far from the deep water . Just get your fish killed and out of the water asap .
