Expect new gig in next era, eventual reality

Rick - $500 USD for gas! Wow:vangry. I take a company vehicle from my home to different locations and just realized that the company is spending between $500 and $800 dollars a month depending on where I needed to go that month. When it's someone elses money we don't tend to get to upset about it. I purchased a smaller personal car when gas prices hit 3.00 a gal. I get around 40 miles per gallon now. Car is kind of small but saves $'s for things I like instead of being "Lockedin":). ......that was bad.

Maybe you can car(camel)pool with one of L.A. basins "Gilled Camels"roflrofl
Contact BatRay for details. :hmm :cool:Sorry Rach, I couldn't resist.:)

When gas hit $2.50, I got rid of my 5.8 litre Bronco, for a 2.5 litre Subaru Outback. Granted I can't see squat when I'm boxed in by a bunch of Range Rovers & Tahoes (whose version of off roading is driving up the curb), but I'm still hurting from $100 fillups! :waterwork I would love to carpool, or take the train, but my hours fluctuate wildly. I'm dropping a resume' to a company that's a lot closer to home. We'll see...

I hope that the job comes through, Rick. Does it cost $100 to fill up the Subaru? Gas is an extremely painful thing, especially when you drive a larger vehicle. I bought my sister an electric scooter for getting to school and places close to her apartment. She's in school, and gas costs so much it seemed like it would be helpful. Besides, it's fun :D

All parking places look icy and no cars exited safely.

It's a winter wonderland. Snows should stop sometime tomorow morning. Whenever the first big snow fall hits on a weekend it seems to take forever for the streets to get plowed etc... to bad we can't send some of this moisture to you parched Californians

I lived on Mt Palomar and also in Ramona Ca. for a while in the late 80's and early 90's and can totally relate to the driving/gas issues. Are Video Engineering jobs in L.A. hard to come by? Looking from the outside in it seems that L.A. would be the place to be for your line of work. To bad you couldn't take your job into the Deeperblue and couple work with play.:) Good luck with the new "Gig" hunting

Sounds beautiful, James! I like the snow (in tame amounts;)).

Jobs like mine aren't too hard to find, but it is a relatively small segment of a small market. And the market is almost non-existent outside of LA, Chicago, New York and Miami. But a related market is high end home theater and home automation. I've always worked in entertainment, but now that I have a family, it's hard to swallow 15 - 20 hours a week spent in the car, after a 70 hour week...

Punctuality as regards kidneys immediately needs going!

The only thing better than burning up 3 dollar fuel in a traffic jam with a side of bad weather is sitting for so long your bladder screams for mercy. Ahh, the pitter patter of little raindrops...

Noting OUTRAGEOUS cellphone times, undermines reading news about light(Rays)

Speaking of cellphones, Awhile back I was at a fast food restaurants drive through window paying for my food with my debit/credit card. I noticed the man who took my card had a celllphone in his hand while he was processing the transaction. He appeared to take a picture of my card then turn it arouond and take a picture of the back of the card with his camera/cellphone:rcard. I processed all of this after I was driving away from the window, so I pulled up in a parking spot to watch him. When people pulled up with cash the cell phone was no where to be seen, but when people payed with a credit card the cell phone appered again. i called the restaurant while I was still ther and told the manager what was going on. He proceeded to tell me he was texting his friends while working:head. I thought this was OUTRAGEOUS and called the police, canceled my credit card and hoped someone at the police department took it seriously enough to investigate. Sorry for the ramble but thought it was worth mentioning to everyone. Be carefull.

Outwitting
underhanded teenagers requires a great effort of uncommon sense.

Nice catch, James!:martial It's sad that we have to be that attentive, but I'm glad you were. I'd follow up with the police (I don't know about the police up there, but our guys are so swamped, that unless you literally call them every day, they won't follow up) and, even though you've canceled the card, track your credit for a while, just in case you buy something, or open any new accounts that you don't intend to.:rcard

occasionally, under-achievers try, without intellectualizing their idotic notions,

Really annoying Dell incinerated, can't allow learning.

Finals next week! The tension is astonishing. My Dell went belly-up yesterday, reports due, labs due, no computer...it's like losing a foot before a race. And this computer doesn't seem to like the toolbar. I have to manually bold the word. It's worth it though :D

Does education love life?

Good riddance for the dell, except of course for the inconvenience. Is the mac new or old os?

It's not my Mac; it belongs to one of my relatives. The Dell was no good. I had nothing but problems with it, so I'm not looking forward to getting another computer that will just end up breaking in a fairly short time.

Lack information for enjoyment!

Rachel, try downloading a different browser (Opera works well, Firefox is very similar to Safari, and Safari 3 is better than the older version.). Good luck on your exams!:)

Tests observe readily Rachel's erstwhile new talents
