On the sad side, LA pollution will turn our local waters into a volatile, infectious cocktail for a few more days. Why is that acceptable? Speaking of which; Kp, how is the spill cleanup in your area proceeding?

funny you should ask, i was all day up at Pt. Reyes National Seashore doing a 6-mile walking survey of Abbott's Lagoon to the very north end of Kehoe beach.

the good news is there were no dead/beached birds with oil on them in our survey today - and i spotted almost 50 snowy-plovers!

the clean-up has been on-going, with the bulk of it complete, but there are a few closed beaches still, and the occasional oil-tar ball here and there.
