Heyho

Im a beginner and I searched the forum for some answers. When I do a breathhold, I try to relaxe and this works quite well sometimes. I try to think of anything nice. But after 2/3 of my max. time, this doesnt work anymore. I get contractions after maybe 1/2 of the time, but then in the end, it feels like all my body is with energy. It becomes just impossible to stay, if I sit or lie I must stand up and pace around. I know this is contraproductive, but the urge is so very strong, its in every muscle of my body... Is there anything I could do to change this? My max. time became better with training, but in the end its still the same. When I see a long breathhold on Youtube or so, cant understand how some divers dont move any muscle til the end, its stunning awesome.

Maybe you got some tips.

Thanks

I sometimes feel the same as you do, but I have also noticed that I became more calm with increasing practice. For me it helps to stretch my body for a few seconds and then to concentrate on relaxation again.
CO2-tables can also help you to feel comfortable for a longer period of time.

Try distracting your mind and focus but not moving around. You are right - moving is counterproductive and just uses up O2. So resist the urge to move and instead use autogenic relaxation. I understand that feeling of getting "restless" but the more you can learn to deal with it and disconnect your mind and focus on that, the better for your holds. AS Pingshui said, improving tolerance will help. Persevere, you'll get there!

I noticed that I could do 32m in a 1:20 (5m depth) with little difficulty and little discomfort, but then when I would go to do a static of 1:20.... I could barley do it.

It wasnt because I was out of air like it felt, but because I was stagnent. I have overcome it by foucus, but other than that I cant offer any advice, only experience
