Just read this one and maybe it could be of interest to you guys.

A caterpillar; " the wax worm" that normally feast on bee hives, was found to eat and degrade plastic aswell. Interesting if this could be developed to a industrial level.

I guess it doesn't solve the problem with peope thinking the oceans are wastebaskets, but it's a good start!
