Hey I was wondering if any of you comp veterans could tell me something about the competitions, especially the upcoming Denmark '09 indoors.

I understand each national team has a ranking based on a mix of the three (DYN, DNF, and STA) disciplines, but I'm wondering, does every athlete need to compete in all three, or does one team member compete in each discipline? I'm pretty sure its the latter but I've heard things that muddied the water for me so I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks guys,

-Matt

There are 2 types of world championships - individual and team - and in 2009 it's the individual world championships (2010 will be the team world championships).

So the pool championships in Denmark are for the individial world champion titles, and all athletes compete against each other in the disciplines where they are qualified, regardsless of nationality. Some athletes will compete in only 1 discipline, some will compete in 2 disciplines and some in all 3.

It is true that sometimes the results are added up per country after an individual world championship, even though it is not really a championship for the country teams, but that is mostly for fun. It is the individual results that count this year. And in general, that is how it is with most AIDA competitions by far - they are for individuals - although there are a few team competitions outside the bi-annual team world championships.
