Pictures of my Yoke!!!!

I'm posting this site to help Surfer (and others that don't live here in Hawaii) see my Yoke and what in my opinion makes it so good. The main point that caught my eye was that unlike most hybrid guns, the Yoke gun actually shaves the stock down and embeds the tube shaft into the stock and he then epoxies it to the wood and then he actually bolts the tube to the stock ( I removed the track one time and saw the bolts) Most other hybrid guns only put a small bit of the tube into the end of the stock....hard to explain this without a picture but for those who own a hybrid gun you'll know what I'm talking about (maybe someone can post a pic)...anyway, hope this helps Surfer!

Yeah you gotta get that rust off. Is that caused by its tightness into the wood? I wonder if the plastic Aimright trigger fully tested and its lifetime guarantee rusts like that?

Rust

I don't know what causes that, but I've seen it before on other Alexander triggers (I refinished my Friends Wong gun with the older Alexander trigger) and it's actually just surface rust. I just take the trigger out and lightly sand it off and it's as good as new. The trigger fits snugly in the hole, but it's not super tight....I learned in school that Stainless steel doesn't mean that it will never rust, it's just more resistant to erosion than non stainless...go figure!

This debate is now dead guys, put it to rest…I only did it to help Surfer make a choice, not get criticized for stating an opinion, which I stated from the start. So let’s end the argument and just try and help Surfer choose a good gun!

You're the one riding this dead horse, and hijacking the guys thread. We got your point, Wong isn't your first choice, great. Darryl chimmed in and corrected you for your "hearsay statements". Other members "called" you on Wong (mass produced and product knowledge) and building / part info for your own beloved Yokooji guns. Nobody blasted you for not picking the Wong first, (your opinion) but instead, called you on your information included "in" your "opinion".You just seem to go on and on. Kick out of "defending" mode and let the horse die in piece.

HawaiiFreediver Don't be jealous, I live in Anchorage Alaska (I can only dive three months per year), late last year I thought I was going to be lay off (that means I would be moving back to Brazil), so rush and bought the third yokooji, but the lay off never happen and the gun is sitting in the closet :head
The other two guns are in Brazil, I use them once a year for a month when in vacation. My first one was the hsd yokooji, the second an enclosed track 55 and the third is an 58 inch enclosed track (the pictures). I wish I knew the yokooji back when I bought my first wooden gun. There are many great guns out there, I wish I could own and used them all !

Here are the pictures for the yokooji lovers ! Darian is a nice guy he needs some publicity now and than. I am sure Daryl Wong won't mind that.

In the course of researching spearguns I heard of yokooji guns - and got the impression they are in the same class as Wong and Merlo guns. Personally I like Merlo's grip and handle solution the best. Similar in some respects to the Omer Cobra.

Next time you take it out to clean off the rust try polishing it after.The smoother finish will resist staining.It could have been a bad batch of steel or more likely the plate that the housing was made of had some contact with carbon steel.I see it alot at work on carbon/stainless tubing and pipe that get shipped together.The stainless has rust mark everywhere it touched the carbon steel.

hey guys thanks for your resonses. as this was to be my first gun and i had to buy a suit and all my other gear, i didnt have the funds to dish out for a wong or yokooji. the guys at hana pa'a got me to get a picasso basik with a open muzzle and 2 bands. the gun was alot cheaper (250). it is a great gun and it shoots great (again this is my first gun so i dont have much to compare it to). what is your guys opinions on my gun?

Man, you're one of a very few that I know that lay claim to that. Having had the chance to hold and fire many of them from the small dirty water guns to his monster trees, the handles are too thin for my paws. But his line release is about the best thing going.

Oh no - you know much better than I for sure. I was referring only to the way he's got it integrated into the stock. I've never held one. If they are that narrow I probably wouldn't like them either - I find the Riffe grip too narrow without some neoprene or something wrapped around it.

I've actually agree with both of you, I think the riffe handle is too thin, the merlo's looks to small (I've never personally try that). I have a riffe and a few yokooji's with Alexander handles. I don't like the Alexander handles, I have never try a Wong handle but my favorite at this point is the omer master America handle and the teak-sea. The omer has a really nice feel to it.
It is nice subject, perhaps the European makers are paying a little bit more attention to the handle ergonomics.

My experience is limited - but I like the grip on the Omer Cobra - same as the T20 and MA obviously - I put the large custom grip on because I like the angle along the back - but the stock grip is fine too. It was a real selling point for me.

I've been thinking of modifying the grip on my little MT0 - a little more angle on the back - and a tad more width would improve the wrist angle. To me the Riffe feels a little too much like it's sitting on your hand - making you want to bend your arm - it seems like more angle in the grip would make the gun a more natural extension of your arm - even on a midhandle. The one on the new Riffe euro gun looks like quite an improvement.

Also, due to it having a plastic trigger system, what kind of rubbers (and how strong)are you using? I was thinking of getting a Euro railgun in the future but was wondering about the these things. Also, to whomever recommending polishing the trigger mech, excuse my ignorance, but how do I do that? Do yo mean to sand it til it's shiny? Thanks.

I suppose handle preferences are a subjective thing. But FWIW, the first two Wong guns I got had Alexander handles. The last three were purchased after he started using the Aimrite handles, and I like the feel of them much better. But just to show you how its a personal thing, two guys that got guns with Aimrite handles were happy to trade me for my old Alexander handles.

I'm happier with the Aimrites, and they are happier with the Alexanders, so we are all happy.

The part on the picasso trigger that make contact with the spear like the sear and part of the trigger is metal.Two 9/16 bands is the max I would put on it.I have an omer excaliber and using a single 18mm band.I bought a polishing kit from the hardware store that has a buffing wheel that you put on a drill and polishing compound.It's easy to use,you could always put in an aimrite trigger if need be.

Hey LilSurfer guy. A handgun tactical trainer (forgot who specifically it was) said, "Any gun will do as long as you do your part." I agree with that. I have a Yokooji hybrid, Rob Allen, Omer, Pathos (greek euro gun) and am planning on making a hybrid and eventually an enclosed track 4 or 5 band gun. Each gun is awesome and does its job if I do mine. Good luck and stay safe.
