Al Gore wins Nobel Peace prize

Also, an inconvenient oversight.

GreenhouseTruth.com -- Fair and honest facts about global warming

That said, we are ruining our planet, and do need to figure out how to stop what we are doing. I just wish that Gore, the UN and friends would quit waving these untrue distractions at us so that they can make $$$. Who do you think profits from "Carbon credits"? Where I get in the water, my Dad used to say that if you had a cut to go surf (swim dive etc.) and it will heal. 30 years later, the same area infects cuts. :vangry

Enough soap box from me... :head I'm going diving :D

Lockedin - the arguments you site have been superceded and ultra-neutralized by the newly identified Quantum Insurgency Principal - which postulates temporal inversions linked directly to changes in awareness. (ie- the subject IS the object). What exactly is a temporal inversion? You may well ask - as indeed may..you; well. Something to do how it is we project ourselves, through time, as a series of ostensibly discreet moments, presuming a continuum. (paul - more words with two 'u's please) in other words 'this one was the hottest. No, wait; this one was...'

What I ask myself is; 'what has all this to do with practical action?'

What a stupid question.

vacuum, fondueset, vacuum.

Times like these, when we start talking about uu words and quantum mechanics, I like to refer back to the wise words of a 900 year bloke who has seen it all:

"Which is the quickest way out of here? <the women all point in different directions> Yes, well, that's democracy for you."

"He doesn't have to outrun the lion, only his friend. Then the lion catches up with his friend and eats him. The strong survive, the weak are killed: the law of the jungle! ... Yes, very clever, if you don't mind losing your friend. But what happens when the next lion turns up? I think you'd better get your running shoes on, gentlemen."

You guys took this subject pretty deep, time to equalize again!

Al Gore does not know anything about science, he has been doing politics to avoid doing science or anything else for that matter becuse it is too complicated/boring/ non profitable for him. Plus even his objectives are noble, in order to sway people he WILL lie, he has proven himself to be a liar who is CAUGHT in lies which is a no-no for a politician. A good politician is never caught in a lie despite lying all the time - it is his solemn duty.

But I trust my father who is a world-class physisist and says that based on principles of thermodynamics burning oil will cause a thermal imbalance. The only question is to what degree. Al Gore does not know that (and nobody else for that matter) but his activities in the field will cause more good than harm. I think it is a biggest praise for a politician or any activist.

The enviorment has always been on the table, way before Gore was even known to most of the people in the US. The problem is that the c02 therory is just that a theory that is totally unproven based on flawed hpyer active computer models. Gores movie by focusing on c02 is hurting and destroying real reaserch on the enviroment and global warming and its real causes by taking very valuable research money from the real scientists and giving it to the UN political scientists and Gore's people so they can line
their pockets.
Having been educated in the enviormential sciences i have seen one theroy after another on the weather and what is going to happen to the earth. The current science is so poor that we dont fully understand the effects of the clouds and how they effect global weather. Gore is full of ...... and is doing a great deal of damage to the enviorment.

"The fact that the Lord knows how to work and to act even with inadequate instruments comforts me"
I have to disagree with all the negative comments. Al Gore might be an arguable person and his work full of errors and incosistencies, but at least he used his influence to bring back the environmental issues on top of the public discourse.
Just ask yourself how many philosophers, religious and historic personalities were at least arguable or condemnable in their private lives, and their work full of incosistencies, but nonetheless, their ideas brought up important improvements for mankind...
Today, october 12th 2007, as a consequence of Gore's prize, everybody is talking about the environmetal issues. It doesn't happen every day.
Is this a contest? If so I think this post should win :)
Tomorrow I'm going to start a Who's got the biggest penis thread, that should be fun too!

WOW! What a thread...if the subject were n't so serious, I'd be laughing hard right now. It's ironic that, given the state of our planet and the direction that things seem to be going, there are those waiting to bust out of the closet and take down a man that has risen above the rest to create an awareness of where our future as a human race might be headed. In my lifetime, the first man to alert me to the question of environmental destruction was Jacque Cousteau, who wrote of a place off the French coast where he first tested the Aqualung. After revisiting the same sight years later, he was shocked o discover a totally dead zone. He alerted the world and made countless millions of people aware that "something rotten this way comes". His numerous documentaries brought home the 'inconvenient truths' creating an awareness of what might happen to our world if we ignored those among us, whose greed led them to operate indiscriminately without regard to fellow creatures on this planet. Cousteau is in many ways responsible for many of our current biologists and scientists who are out there looking for answers. Awareness therefore can be thought of as the first step towards a solution and perhaps that is what Al gore has achieved. JFK once said "ask not what your country can do for you;but what you can do for your country". Substitute 'planet' for 'country' and I think that therein lies the challenge for us today. For us as individuals it is a very personal choice and one that warrants action at a grassroots level beginning in our homes.
I say congrats to Al Gore, and I say to others who critisize him:What are you doing for our Blue Planet???

Al Gore - "We are currently searching for a solution to the worlds biggest problem.... Man Bear Pig"

Funnily enough "Man Bear Pig" is abbreviated MBP, which is a term used while researching the recession of glaciers due to global warming - Mass Balance Potential.

Ahh..... good times.

"The fact that the Lord knows how to work and to act even with inadequate instruments comforts me"

And what's religion got to do with all of this?

So we should all go back to middle ages and let god do his work? And while he's doing it, we, the mere mortals should just pray? Sounds like a good idea to me!

Allegedly the lord designed the inadequate instruments to which the lord has given the lord access.

As for my instrument - well - given the above i'd say it was designed by someone else.

The thing about Cousteau - he made it interesting.

Really; I'm Thuper Serial!
