There are some links in this thread which may help:

I think that apnea walks on empty lungs are considered beneficial because they allow you to gauge the fact that you can over a certain distance even with empty lungs, so when in the water, you don't necessarily panic as much if you feel you're out of air. Although, I never do empty lung apnea walks, but I'm a beginner of 6 weeks...maybe some of the others do the empty lung apnea.

I've done apnea walks at various levels of exhale. Apnea walks with full, forced exhale gets uncomfortable very quickly(contractions are hell). Also, your chance of a BO is quite high. That approach should improve your ability to safely tolerate hypoxic conditions, but be very careful with full exhales. I found that passive exhale walks worked quite well, much faster than full lung, much less B0 chance (but its still there, be careful), and MUCH less discomfort.

Will it help with breathhold time?? Probably, but not sure. Breathhold is more complicated than just hypoxic capacity or co2 tolerance.

thank you for your answer... in fact i sometimes do it with passive exhale for the safety reason ... i think it works on relaxation more than breath hold ability... by the way what about lung stretching i do not know any tips for and in what aspects is it beneficial .?
thank you

I've never heard of lung stretching, can it even be done? I know you can maintain, and improve, the flexibility of the chest/thoracic area which would be beneficial. But, as I was informed, relaxation really appears to be the key to hold times.

i have heard about lung stretching and its value of increasing lung capacity may be these stretching done with full inhale so this way you stretch your lungs ..and off course intercostal muscles

There are at least 3 ways to stretch, increasing your lung capacity. Simply diving a lot will increase lung volume in many divers (me, for instance) . Stretching your intercostal muscles, maybe combined with pack stretching will do the same. I never had much luck with intercostal stretching, but probably wasn't diligent enough. To my mind, the best way is diaphragm stretches. This increases the amount of fresh air you can inhale by decreasing your residual volume, more air, no buoyancy penalty. Its easy and works very well for most divers. Helps with equalizing at depth as well.

Time to learn how to use the "search" function at the top of the page. Try searching "diaphragm stretch" or "banda" and read what looks like the best match. If you can't find anything, pm me and I'll help you.
