Atomic mask???

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I ordered the Subframe, two lens version, and should get it in another week. I had a chance to try one on in this dive shop up north last week and it fit me perfect. It's a bit lower volume than the single lens, but still has the good glass, so I'm pretty excited about using it.

Congratulations on the contest- where was it?

Jon

Jon, it was in Pierre, SD...Lake Oahe, about a 425 mile one way drive for me.. uff da..

I, finally, received my Atomic Subframe mask and decided to go whole-hog and buy it with the ARC lenses. I tried it out for the first time today and it fogged up like crazy!:head

I would, normally, scrub out a new mask before I use it but this thing has warning labels all over it not to do so or you'll scratch the ARC coating on the lenses.

As a result, I switched to my back-up mask (Marina) and just dragged the thing along behind me on my float. I tried it again, after letting it soak in the lake for a few hours, and it fogged up just the same.

Does anyone else won one of these things? If so, what did you do to clean the mask without scratching the lenses up? I would contact the company but they have no email, only a phone number, and they don't open up until Monday.

Thanks,

Jon

The fit is fine. The mask is a bit wider than my other masks, but it fits really well. I would think that it would feel really nice diving in the cold since it covers more of my face than any of my other masks. Volume isn't too bad, I got the twin lens version, and would work out just fine for spearfishing around here.

The coating is on the inside and outside of the lenses.

JON - My mask (with Yellow Lens) had the same warning labels on it- and NOT to use Toothpaste- So I use this Lens defogger stuff- That works GREAT! I usually can go the whole day with no problems.

I tried spit and that didn't seem to help either. I'll give the company a call tomorrow. I spent too much money on it to take a chance ruining it.

I just got off the phone with Atomic and they said they are changing all the labels on their ARC masks- it turns out you CAN use toothpaste and defog on them after all!:head

They just don't want you using anything really abrasive- like softscrub or one of Sven's pick-up lines. rofl

i have had this mask for over a year.no fog.always comfortable.couldnt be happier with a mast.and i live in fl

After talking to Atomic I used toothpaste on it and that seems to have done the trick- in the pool at least. We'll see next time I jump in the lake how it fairs in 40F degree water. ;)

In the pool I have noticed better vision, and less distortion, as compared to my other masks.
