I also found the carbon fibre not to be of great quality on my flap, there were small defects/perferations visable to the naked eye, slightly rough not smooth when you run your hand across it in places, maybe this is normal.

there are little "defects" in the blades, but thats carbon composites for ya, the little defects are wher air has been trapped and couldn't escape.

the problem with carbon is there are so many variables when they are made, temperature, hand lay up, time, amount of resin to carbon, even spread of resin to carbon. and these blades to a certain extent are "hand made" not mass produced, like a cressi mask which will be made in less than 10 seconds!

untill the process has been refined more, the blades will have those little "defects" in it.
but for the price of them compared to resin infused process is very good.

they won't detract from the performace of the blade, they would be covered up with more resin when made, but then the perfromance would suffer serverly.

regarding foot pockets, in NZ for diving we always use 2-3mm socks, never bare foot, even in the pool. the omer foot pockets bare foot would make us bleed! the cressi silicon foot pockets how ever in a smaller size would fit very nicely bare foot.

Yeah i found Omer Millenium footpockets to cause wounds too, the Spetton footpockets I have used for 2 weeks solid now freediving every day with no wounds, only a slight scar from the fin retainers rubbing, but I guess everyones feet,ankles are shaped differently and each footpocket not identical, so it's not to say an Omer footpocket that causes bleeding on one diver would do the same to another.

Thanks for the info on the carbon fibre, it's the rubber quality that is the real worry on these C4 blades.
