Automatic carabiner for a harpoon line!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.

I couldn't find a topic about carabiners! Sorry! I'll throw it here! Automatic carabiner for a harpoon line! Activated by pressing the front and rear bushings simultaneously!

I got it... it could be simpler but without a locking mechanism, or a different design...

Tromik! The main criterion when choosing a carbine is the hunting conditions! The carbine should not break or open when passing through the body of a fish or other obstacle pierced by a harpoon! The carbine should be comfortable to work with in thick winter gloves! None of the carbines you presented meet these conditions! That is why I created my Automatic Carbine!

Zahar, I am sure you put a lot of effort and time into the design of your carabiner. I know it because it is hard work, even though it doesn't look like it when it's all done. The version made by ESK? is different, I think it's simpler in design (to me) than yours. Both are very good. I didn't know that you use the carabiner right behind the spear so that it goes through the fish. Some spearos use the "Pig tail" clips to conect the baunge to the line conecting the spear. It can hold about 40 kg and is pretty secure and easy to operate.

Yes Tromik! I have improved my Automatic Carbine in the direction of simplification of manufacture and reliability! In our underwater hunting there are often cases when the harpoon gets stuck in branches and logs under water and the fish moves on a line through the carbine, which passes through the wound hole in the fish! The requirements for such a carbine are very high! As for the ESC runner, I combined Sergey's development with the holes for the spring shock absorption of Alexander Migachev (Mechanics)! My merit here is not enough!

Both Automatic Carabines have very interesting design! Well done!
The only problem I see is that this type of carabiner placed behind the arrow greatly reduces the range, has high hydrodynamic resistance, so it is only good for short shooting distances.

The carbine does not affect the lethal range, which for pneumatic guns is 4 - 5 gun lengths! This length is wound on the gun before the carbine!

It will do for the sea and for a bare palm! For our hunts, this is an empty toy! When hitting the body of a fish or the roots of trees under water, this carbine will open and the fish may escape! A trigger is needed! How many hands does it take to open it? Take a video of it working with one hand!

You have to use both hands. One to hold the body and the other to rotate the locking tubing (stainless steel tubing) for 90 degre). In locking postion there is a small indent to secure the locking tubing in locked position so it can not be accsidentally unlocked. Rotation of 180 degree from locked position facilitates the insertion or removal of the spring. First idea was to use 1,35 mm spring wire but it was very dificult to rotate the tubing so I change it for 1 mm spring wire. In next tuning step I would try it with 1.1 mm or 1.2 mm...

My carabiner works with one hand! Why create a carabiner for two hands?

Why not? We have two hands... I do not see it as an issue. And that is acctualy not a carabinner. Carabinners usuly have closed shape and they are for one hand operation.
I do not like plastic and silicone tubing in your design. They can easily be demaged. The principle of operation is very interesting. That is what I like.

Maybe better name for this device is a Hook...?
This is an example of a Hook connecting two ropes.

Safety spring hook with double locking latch. Large enough in size for the biggest of ropes and chains. The gate of the snap hook cannot be opened without first pulling the additional safety gate down. Excellent for applications require this extra level of safety.
