I have been looking for some new 5mm dive socks and stumbled across these beauties:

I have tried looking on the UK market but have had no joy, so over to our American friends...

What are these socks like...?

And how much postage to England!?

Looks as though they are made from very soft neoprene, so don't walk any more than 2 paces in them, or they are likely to wear through on the heels and soles before you even enter the water - carry them down to the beach with you!

Apparently not:

Their interior is lined with a special combination of Bio-Ceramics and Titanium Oxide for durability, ease of donning, thermo-reflecting and anti-bacterial properties. They are also totally sealed inside, making them 100% waterproof!
The Sole is made of ultra resistant, durable and chaffing resistant Kanoco material, reinforced with Ink Dots, made of Polyurethane material giving them an incredible hold and they are virtually indestructible! You can finally have the firmest hold and walk on rocks time after time, without damaging them as you would with any standard diving neropene socks!
Thanks to their unique elasticity resembling the latex surgical gloves, these are the warmest, most comfortable and lightest diving socks ever made, with ZERO water circulation inside.

I have als bought some Merrell sandals to save wrecking the socks - as you suggested!

Mine are the Karrimor Aqua Sandals, with vibram soles, and I bought them because my spearfishing trips so often involve a certain amount of yomping and mountaineering (I was getting fed up with trying to scale cliffs in my thin and slippy reef shoes).

Those neoprene socks might be well lined, but I find that it's the structure of the neoprene itself that tends to break down first, underfoot, even with a decent set of footwear over the top. I've started to wear an old pair of neoprene socks to get me to the dive site now, inside my sandals, and then slipping on my nice new intact ones when I get there.

True, it does always seem to be the neoprene breaking down first, good idea about using old socks until you get to the dive site.

I don't know yet but there might be a window maybe next week with these Northerlies coming in.

Any suggestions? - My work is pretty flexible and I am free Tues & Wed of next week if you fancy a dip somewhere...

I use old hiking boots or running shoes to hike down to the water and put them in a plastic bag with a sign "PLEASE DO NOT TAKE. I AM IN THE WATER" with my telephone number.
