:D  :p rofl

I went diving with Eric Fattah and Stephanie Ortlepp yesterday. The weekend before my arrival was described by Eric in an email to me as a 'cold day in hell.' So I was prepared for the worst.

....But instead, the sun came out, the viz was exceptional, and the water had warmed up 4C in seven days. At -15m I could see a dive light shining up from -50m. The bottom was a light green colour. Not the usual darkness.

I was trying out a new suit--a 6.5mm Omer that was a little loose for me in the torso--and I was a little too buoyant. I had pigged out on cheese the day before and my right ear was sticky so I couldn't make as many dives, or go as deep as I wanted to go.

But I don't care.

The water was sparkling, the small red juvenile salmon were swimming around us in schools, the water was pulsing with delicate moon jellyfish and other things. And my precious monofin was at last free to ply the depths once again.

Look out Vancouver--I'm back!!!!!!

A Happy Pete

It was a beauty yesterday, wasn't it? Four of us were out at Ansel with my new home-made float & line. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime and I'll meet the famous Pete. :)
