Hi guys,
New to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm Irish born. Was in Australia for 4 years, USA for 1 and Bahamas for 2.
I am married and have to boys 3 & 4 years old.
We're moving back to Perth at the end of the year and are looking forward to land some fish :)

Thank you.
Yea, I've been around :D
Unfortunately I didn't do much diving before the Bahamas.
I started my BSAC scuba course a long time ago when I lived in Ireland but unfortunately didn't complete my last open water dive and ended up not being certified. (Kicking myself now)
When I arrived here in the Bahamas we moved into a property on the water so had easy access and no excuses.
I ran into a few guys who liked spearfishing and fell in love with it.
The water is warm and crystal most of the time. I'm sure very hard to beat, though I'm sure I'll find some gems in WA :D

Good deal! Do you plan to take a freediving class? They're great for safety as well as technique if you decide to ditch the tanks. It's worth consideration. Hope to see some of your trip reports :)

I plan to do both a freediving and scuba course asap when I arrive. I was going to do one with Vertical Blue at Dean's Blue Hole but unfortunately never had the spare time. :)

Hi @One_Shot, welcome to the forums and welcome back to Australia (soon). I was lucky enough to spend a month in the Bahamas a couple of years back - not sure why you're heading here lol Though i've not been there, i've plenty of mates from the West Coast and i've heard it's one of the loveliest places around.

There is a very vibrant spearfishing and freediving scene over in WA. I know there are regular groups doing freedive training too so you should be able to slot into something.

I'd start with these guys and see how you go:

Best of luck with the move mate!

Cheers,
Ben
