Beeing afraid of max attempts ...

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I and a few other divers I know get very sore legs in the days prior to a big dive, e.g. a record attempt. Real effect (vasoconstriction) or imaginary?

I'm not an expert but have the same thing whithout record attemt stress.
My guess is, when tapering, your body needs to recover from the previous hardcore training period and is still in need for active care (adequate nutrition + recovery exercices). Doing nothing doesn't seem to be the optimal solution. Does this make sense ?

Anyone with good references on the subject ?

well I tried my theory in honour of this thread (gotta give me points for that). close, but no cigar.

Bunk theory was: train regularly (2x week) with some small impediment near to PB levels, remove the impediment, and a new PB would be yours.

I deliberately worried all week about it, and did no special prep, other than trying the swim with goggles and clip instead of chunky mask. Came up fresh with no shakes, but 25m short of where I wanted to have been ;(

Back to drawing board (I have some plans).

Well I did a PB DYN this week, 10% up on previous. No warm up no breathe up.

Not a max attempt and estimate could have made another 25m before samba, and I'm not afraid!

Thanks forum!

:-)
