Yes, it really is. Its a 69 inch gun more suited for tuna, but the big yellowtail have been skittish, so guys are breaking out the guns that they usually use in Mexico. My biggest gun is a 60" with four bands, and I've felt under gunned.

I have only tried a RA gun (1ooo model with single 16mm band) and can't find fault with it. I only wish I had a 1.2m gun, mine is a bit short for the clear Mozambican waters...

Makes sense, some of the SA spearos mentioned using 1.3 in Mozambique. I believe 110cm (Rob Allen/Rabitech) is considered "normal" size for spearing in SA & 120 not uncommon.

BTW re. spearguns that "never let you down", I've had trigger mechs. let me down on both RA & Omer spearguns (& I consider both to be excellent/above average brands), although I was able to clear the latter quickly while still in the water. Perhaps our conditions are sandier/grittier than most - certainly the visibility here is more often poor than good.

YEs that is correct Mr.X 1.1 and 1.2 is standard in SA. Gotta upgrade! My mech jammed once but it was because I left my gun on side of water while removing my fish so some sand washed in but cleared it up quickly.
