Best fins for current?

I was wondering which of these fins would be best for current... C4 Mustang/Fuego(30), DiveR(MED), or Stingray Carbon 30s?

Hi Matt, It's been 6 days and no responses and my Info may not help your question. But I have been using new H.Dessault foot pockets with Pursuit Carbon 90 Med blades with great results. I have put over fifty hrs on them in
open offshore freediving and beach entry training swims. The longer I have them the better I like them and feel $ is very reasonable for the return. I have had C4 Mustangs but I like my current combo better.

Yes I just noticed those fins and I was wondering if they were THAT good? I was going to go for the med soft with pathos FP b/c of the weight? Is there a big difference?

Part of it is based on your build and condition. Stiffer fins require a lot more muscle to move them. I'm using Imersion E-carbons, a very soft fin, and they do everything I want, include get me back up from 40 m without effort and covering long distances, sometimes with strong currents. Other divers have very different choices, largly bsed on personal preferences. Either take your chances or figure out a way to try some out.

fyi I am in the process of semi-scientific testing of fins, and almost everyone involved thinks they are going faster with stiffer fins, but by the clock a medium or soft fin gets them to the end of the pool faster

Agreed i would generally steer clear of stiff fins for extended diving.

defietly go carbon fibre. the mustangs are good but are limited a bit in maneuverability. the Stingray 30's are a PEach of a fin.

we had 8 guys in the pool recently try them along with some of my other fins (C4's, Sporasub, Rob Allen, Beuchat, DiveR) along with some other stuff and they were by far and away the most popular... along with Thhe RA test samples (not in production yet)

the Stingrays are much better spearing fins than the c4's or DiveR's. cant speak for the Pursuits as i havent used them nor seen anyboy with them. but if don Paul is happy they cant be bad.

but my money is on the Ecarbons. another option is your choice of foot pockts with Spierre pure carbons also a VERY nice fin.

I like the look of the Pursuit fins but I am not popular enough to be allowed on his forum to ask him questions. So I will probably be ordering Spierre Carbons or the OMER Stingrays( I can get these two at a decent price). Spierre mediums are pretty hard so a omer stingray pocket would be good?

Sorry for asking soo many questions everyone. I just don't have the money to test every fin out there.

I have the Spierre's in Mares footpockets, they are nice but just a little stiffer than I expected. I like a soft fin though and its not too terribly hard.

YUP!trialled a pair back towards the end of June. pretty impressive. they were only proto types (robs personal fins) and they were in millenium pockets, but were still impressive.

better in a stingray pocket i think but time will tell i guess.

I have some Spierre Pure Cabons and they are pretty nice a little heavy for carbons though. I have heard the new Dive R carbons and Pursuit blades are nice also.

I'll second the Pursuit blades, I have over 8 friends that have them now, all loving them.
Pursuit also has a sexy C-100 for deep freediving.

I think you'll find the C90's great for spearfishing, If I was making more dives
past 100' the C-100's would be my choice. I have hammered the C90's on big surf beach dives and they seem to be bullet proof.

I have used the Spierres a few times and I have realized that I can not function without my beuchats. I have tried both the Nemo and H-Dessault pockets. I just like my soft wussy fins! Too bad I have spent like $600 to find out that there really isn't anything better than my old fins.....This is just my experience, so if you hit the gym everyday and have lots of spare time to get the muscle to push the stiff fins more power to you!
