Best Place for Diving

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I guess it can be a cool place but I cant stand the crowds. Might as well be in Manhattan.

You have to understand the crowd that that video is aimed at. Most tourists that come to hawaii dont know there left foor from their right (not all, but most). I have to constantly yell at tourists for trying to "ride" seaturtles, or getting too close to monkseals, or walking on live coral. The list goes on and on. I hate to be that guy but some people are just not too bright. Its a step in the right direction because those people who have now seen that video at Haunama Bay will take that knowlege to the other places they snorkel. Now if they could only do something about the thousands of gallons of SPF 50 that is put into the ocean:head

Did you get to do any spearing on Oahu?

I used to go there for surf contests so never got to spear at all. From what I hear its pretty fished out. You gotta know the secret spots in order to get into some real fish.

No, I didnt bring any gear, and only started getting offers to spear once I was there. So it was too late. But only half of waikiki is a marine reserve, and the other half has TONS of nice uhu, and some smaller kinds of ulua. There were also nice kala, like the size of a briefcase look underwater. I also saw a three foot long kaka. And this was on Waikiki. I saw enough takeable fish is my point. Yeah, they need to raise awareness, but they overplay the whole coral thing. Yeah, dont walk on them and break them, but when I see coral heads lieing face down, I pick them up, and find them a nice nich on the reef.

Hey Flesh, when you are livin in Hawaii and i come and visit you...your going to hook me up with some gear and we'll go in them 'Secret Places' HAHA

Lol, I dont have any "secret places" yet buddy. But Im sure I will in the near future.

Yeah but you will if you are living there! And you will know people that will! bottom line is that im comeing to visit you and we will go spearing!......btw im sleeping at your house tonight so that i dont have to get up in the morning and drive there, what lake are we planning on spearing tommorow?

As it turns out, you and ethan got shot down by my dad at like one in the morning, because Im pretty sure my mom thought you guys were drunk as skunks lol. Sleeping in the woods wasnt that bad... until you opened up the windows and let in all the mosquitios.

No it was basically the dumbest thing we ever did :head...we should have done back to mike wolles grad party...then i didnt have a mask spearing and the vis sucked and the water was cold so pretty much a waste of a day

Mike, a day spent on the water is NEVER WASTED. Enjoy the peace now, it might not be there tomorrow.

You know what flesh your right! it was fun, and the sleep deprivation wore off after a healthy 13 hours the next night :)

I day on the water is never a waste of a day!

Talking about sleep depravation, how was winks feelin? rofl
