Black vs transparent mask

No body mention when dropping on low visibility water hunting for fish, you really want to know what is around you, and be positive about it because when you see any unknown reflection coming from transparent masks, makes your fear factor increase. Jeeee !! It happens to me every time I loose my regular black mask or having to lend my good masks to someone who you want to help start apnea hunting...

I tried both the three window mask from Scubapro and clear silicone. I hated both because of the reduced visibilty while on the surface from the sun reflecting on the glass.
Black silicone has been a great product. Anyone remember the age crinkled rubber on an non silicone mask?

Masks, like fins, are very personal items of gear and the choices we make beyond checking for fit can be very subjective. I've always snorkelled with rubber-skirted masks, having started in the late 1950s, when rare and expensive silicone-skirted masks were intended for people with allergies. I'm not a fan of "modern" materials in masks and fins and I once snorkelled on a trip away in the 1990s with a black silicone-skirted mask and I have to admit I didn't like the way the mask felt against my face and I couldn't wait to return to my rubber-skirted traditional oval mask back home. One of my prize possessions is a blue-rubber-skirted Typhoon Super Star mask from the mid-1960s, a birthday present. The skirts are still as soft today as they were when it was bought half a century ago, so good quality and well-tended rubber-skirted masks aren't doomed to perish. And, as I remarked in my earlier posting, there are still a dozen different models of blue rubber-skirted masks in production worldwide, an option still unavailable with silicone to the best of my knowledge.

I use this mask

but it's in green, it's probably 10 years old but it's great, but it's a bit high volume so it's only good to around -10 meters, as I started some serious spearfishing this year and apnea I'm searching for a new mask and I think I found it in:

but I can't decide on brown or green mimetic, maybe even allblack
