I remember the look of disbelief on many faces when you made that 150 meter turn here a few years ago. It will be great to hear that you've done it again.
How about today's medicine? Things like fixing the most important parts of the human body aren't even considered miracles any more.

I am on todays medicine (mostly banned substances I'm afraid). I remember so clearly making that turn. Its funny, I thought I had enough to aim for a world record at that point, I was feeling that good. 6 meters more and it was all over with an obvious LMC, it happened so quickly. I often think at what distance I could have come up earlier and have made it clean? My arrythmia had been a problem for a while even then, and the following year it became 24/7 causing me to be very anxious preparing to compete, so much so that I was a bundle of nerves and could not prepare. I spent a month training in Russia with their finswimmers and that was great but did not solve the heart problem. I have not made a serious max effort dynamic since Hawaii (and even Hawaii was only my third max effort). Two operations later (last one in Feb 2007) and the heart is now fixed. So I only have to wait patiently for the diaphram to fix itself. For now I can only breath passively. If I try to gasp in a huge lungful, it just doesnt work. So its gentle training and no breath holds (doctors orders). My monofin just puffs me out and its back to bi fins. But I can spend a day finning my raft, just wait till I manage to sleep with it. Then it will be a week of finning, or a month!!!!!!

Hi kkobs,

I don't specifically research competitive freediving, but In a nutshell, IMO, the faster the swim, the less useful the body hair; while the longer the dive, the more useful the body hair.

Some are hairier than others...
