i'd also like to point out that in the statement the council says:
but there are no houses, beach huts, commercial premises or anything else for that matter between 50 and 53, and dredged grey shingle is hardly replacing a

That up buy the newedy beach....no one walks that far anyway.
The only people that walk that ways are fishermen and a lot of them. Fishing is a massive income for the area.
This is also a spot that the comy fishing boats net and close to potting grounds.

On a non-spearo note it also completely destroys any chance of a surfable wave for years. Southbourne is only just recovering, and even then only in the Fisherman's Walk area...
So much for bringing the multi-million pound surf industry to Bournemouth - build a shitty reef, ruin several miles of otherwise fine beachbreak...

The Hall of Fame is filling up fast. Lots of great stories providing some exciting reading.

If you’ve already had a good look through then you might appreciate a new feature on the main post just above the rules where you can find a list of the latest entries with hyperlinks.
With 5 entries into double figures you now need a bass (European) over 10lb to get on the board.
Still plenty of chance to look up your old posts and maybe get into the HoF. Just make sure you comply with the rules and give me a shout (PM).
If you’ve applied but haven’t made it up in lights yet then that’s probably down to me still “working on it”. Please be patient.
A little tip here. If you want to see all the pictures you have posted go to User CP (top leftish on the screen), scroll down to Miscellaneous and click on attachments and there’s a list of links to your pictures. However, here’s the bit I didn’t realise ‘til recently (although probably everyone else knew) if you scroll down again at the bottom you can click see thumbnails and hence actually see your pictures. If you haven’t done this then give it a try. It’s useful for finding stuff and maybe locating some HoF entries.
Connected to the above as I was too mean or actually too lazy to sign up to be a DB supporter I only had a standard (small) allocation of space for my pic’s. I therefore have deleted lots of old ones to make way for the more recent ones. Unfortunately for me that means I have lost some old pic’s which would have qualified me for entry into the HoF. But the rules say no pic no entry.
Well enjoy reading the stories and ogling the pic’s in the HoF and get entering your old catches before getting out there this year and catching something big enough to be immortalised.

Jumped in at Durleston for a couple of hours on Saturday. Viz about 2-3 meters - fishable, but not spectacular - obviously no fish about. Fair amount of kelp though, but not sure if new growth or left over from last season (probably the latter).
Moved on to Studland (south) a bit later, for another couple of hours -vis about 3-5m. Accidentally speared what looked like a small turbot or brill. Poked my spear into a sand patch that didn't quite look right, and came up with a small flattie on the end, slightly smaller than the size of my hand. Spear had gone in near the tail so I was able to free him him without too much damage done.
Apart from that, no fish to be seen - but Studland still might make a good location at the moment for anyone desperate to test their new torch on a night dive!
P.S: Harbour looked as clear as a bell again.

Good to see a local forum, I live in S'oton so it would be nice to find somewhere a little closer to home! I started spearing last year but the weather and vis only allowed about a dozen dives for me on my free weekends.
This year I am hoping for a much better year and if any of you guys want to go out locally then give us a shout I would be interested to learn of anywhere to go locally.

I'm still hibernating as far as spearfishing goes, but am starting to feel the need for some sort of fishing... Is anyone interesting in a charter trip from Poole one saturday in April? I know a couple of good boats and will start to ask around to see what is fishing well at the moment, let me know if you're interested.

Bream was what I was going to wait for, I missed them last year in August, but the year before we had a boat full. They're my favourite eating and fighting (on light tackle) fish of all.
