Hey guys, just started out spearing and like most of you, i'm pretty addicted, i'm wondering what exercises you do to help hold your breath for longer periods of time....right now i hit about 5 m of water hit the bottom and bang i'm up to the surface in no time at all....any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Spear ON!!!!

you might want to look at the "Begginer Freedive" forum. that question has been asked many times by many different people but other than that just relax.

Loads of practice and keep relaxed.

Simple really but thats all it takes, time and chilling out underwater. Being a spearo is an advantage as the simple act of stalking a fish can take your mind away from the need to breathe.

Good luck,

Brian

Try descending real slowly, like it takes no effort at all, but just time. You'll craete less Co2 (the thing that makes you urge for breath), or atleast you won't make a fast increase of Co2 but a slow building of it, that might postpone the urge to breath and makes your whole dive much much calmer.
