Hi guys,

im 16 and have just started spearfishing and freediving (having so much fun so far) but i was just wondering what some breath hold techniques are and if there are any tips and tricks to use.

Ive been looking around and most people say that its all about cardio, but im really fit and have great cardio, but can only hold my breath for 1 minute out of the water and for about 45 seconds (if that!) under water.

If there is any help you guys can give me that would be fantastic :)

Thanks
Nick

Well first this subforum is about introductions. So introduce yourself :) Second, go to the Beginner Freediver forum and check the 'how to start freediving' thread. You'll learn a lot there.

Hello Nick and welcome on DB... Best Place to learn but i advice if you have a professional buddy bcoz if you apply some of techniques here somehow you will risk your life if you are alone...

All best

Welcome from Texas! Get a good dive buddy. Work on breath hold gradually building up--just like any other physical conditioning. It doesn't come overnight but you can have some dramatic improvement with practice.
