Breath hold training for spearfishing?

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I have a 3mm custom made inner lined (I assume this is what you call closed cell) spearfishing wetsuit and I am not cold at 19C. Open cell would be warmer of course. The important part is the fit, an open cell wetsuit that does not fit properly will not be much better since you will still get the water flushing (hence the cold). Just be aware that open cell is more fragile and can tear easily when you put it on, you need to lubricate it when putting it on, it can stick together if stored in a warm place, etc. It is however the best you can get to stay warm.

A 3 mil freediving suit will be enormously warmer than what you have. Given you are used to cooler water and are actively spearfishing, a 3 mil should be enough in 19 c. I'd want a bit more for the kind of low energy diving we do. You might want to add a 2 or 3 mil vest. Critical is that, whatever you have, it fits near perfect. If you can wear off the shelf suits, fine. If there is any question, bite the bullet and get a custom. Elios makes a great one, but check the shipping closely, it can be a killer.
