British Columbia Spearfishing Trip

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
A couple of people on the trip were interested in Taiji. This video is really more of a warm up session - but I'd be filming every day for a week and still not have it right. So with the Caveat that there are many errors this is a vid of the second third of 'Old Yang Style' taijiquan. It's longer than the first third - with more low movements and 'fa-jing' (explosive movements) but not so much of either as the third third. Also, when I'm more warmed up, the movements become smaller and less defined. The video is also a bit on the fast side. It's kind of big so you might want to right click and save it to watch it. I tried to choose an appropriate soundtrack....

After the Telegraph Cove trip, I finally managed to get my housing for my S80 and on one of the successive sailing trips came up with the following footage from around Hornby Island and Quadra Island. By the way all the camera work was done with no-fins, so you can imagine the difficulties involved in trying to get smooth footage.

Prior to that trip four of us Giovanni, Kimi, James, and myself sailed in and around Desolation Sound, and here are the photos above water:

tyler,

beautiful shots. simply entrancing.

my favourite part is that lacksidasical seal cruising along in your direction but without yet spotting you. when it does see you and suddenly realizes you aren't a seal it starts backpedaling like mad---"whoa, nelly! where did you come from?"

thanks for sharing. i really enjoyed it.

Wow..! Thankyou Tyler, that was an amazing vid. I as well, really loved the seal footage; and I am nostalgic, wishing more than ever for a repeat event on the coast this June! :) oOOoOo

Awesome video Tyler. Thanks for sharing. The cool coast water looks so warm and inviting right now...it is -23 and snow-filled here today.

Speaking of S80s - check this out from yesterday! Not cropped or zoomed! Tyler - amazing waters out there - I think the one seal felt sorry for you without fins :) She seemed to want to play.

Cheers, thanks for all the feedback from everybody here and karma-wise!

I forgot to post this one from Ansell Point in Vancouver. Mermaids... oh troublesome mermaids... I dove down to free myself from the entrapments of mankind only to be engulfed in the manipulations of siren songs!

Fondueset, I think you are unknowingly transforming into a fish... that would explain the close proximity to such denizens. Nice shots!

I have noticed a tendancy to make sudden changes of direction - and to dart after shiny objects.

Chris: I have to agree with Tyler. The lake trout are big, the lake is rediculously clear, and you're exiting with some great photos. You're obviously close and nonthreatening... it's the only logical conclusion ;)

Tyler: Great great footage of those seals. I'm curious if it's the lack of fins or the smoothskin wetsuit... Next TC trip, I'll have to try the T-method.

I like that idea of a linear movie documenting the next trip, Chris. One thing I really want to do is document more spearing. I envision some great footage of the spearos hunting ling in 50-75ft. That would be great video. I'm also very into gathering more shellfish. That crab feast was one of my greatest meal-memories.

YUM!

By then I should able to catch ling with my teeth. That should make for some good footage :)

Beauty! Spectacular!

Here's my finished one from the Boardman river right in downtown Traverse City. Re-done since last posted. Res is crap due to web compression but you'll get the idea.Boardman River Salmon run

Very cool guys. Gabe, I would love to come out next season to dive the run with you & Bri.

Awesome!! Great footage of the salmon runs. It looked so cool the deep shot coming up through the red schools of salmon. Gabe, nice stable camera work too!

Spearos from other countries must just watch with their jaws on the ground when they see that! ;)
