I am making my first post as a brand new member of your forum. I joined since I was looking for a spear shaft for my Mares Sharpshooter speargun and someone from your forum had the same problem and the responses led me, and the other guy as well I hope, to a new shaft by ordering the Mares Sten 84 shaft which is identical. The answers in your forum were right on point and now I can take my Mares Sharpshooter speargun out of retirement and take it down to Vieques Island in Puerto Rico and do some spearfishing on that beautiful island. I was actually born in Vieques and came to the United States (Brooklyn) when I was ten years old. I have been back many times since to SCUBA but never to spearfish. Hence, I joined a spearfishing forum to learn what's new in our sport and your forum did not disappoint. Thanks for allowing to me join your informed, interesting and fun group.

Paul,

Thanks for your good wishes. Hopefully the island will remain in its pristine stage for years to come. We still do not have a Casino or a cruise boat docking area and hopefully never will. We have some incredible beaches and pretty good shore diving. I once dove with a school of tarpon at 15 feet. I will report back in two weeks if I catch some nice fish with the new spear shaft I was able to find through DeeperBlue.Net.

Thanks,

Tony

Dallas Diver,

Thanks for the information on Roberto Reyes. I will reach out to him and hopefully set up a charter trip. I'll let you know how it works out. Say hello to your significant other Brooklynite.

Thanks,

Tony
