It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I'll probably be in the Kristiansand area in August. I don't know many spots right around Kristiansand, but dive quite a bit at my cottage about 40 min drive to the east.

I will most probably be spending some time on the southeastern coast in that period allso,a bit further north east than Anders though.

Oh. he ment Hidra near Flekkefjord.I've never been there although its Vest-Agder. I confess I'm very lazy as soon I put my feet under my parents table. 2 hours by car is tooooo much. hehehe.

I know,my mother lives in Kragerø, and we go there like, every other month, but I seem to allways end up diving the same spots, just down from her house...

Kragero a lovley place. Spent the summrs of my youth in Langesund. Didn#t found good and safe spots in Mandal right now. (Takes ages to drive to some islands with a plastsnekke) Last summer i was east in lista. not so crowed less boattraffic and some fish.

Tobi

Yeah kragerø is nice, but unfortunately its lately been overpopulated by seals and askersnobs in big ribs.So spearfishing is either boring, due to no fish or lethal due to drunk posh people on their way to or from their holliday home in huge motorboats.Have to go all the way out on the outside of jomfruland for some decent spearing...

Virginland (hihi) is a far way. The askerguys are also in Mandalarea. Met one special couple two years ago in Kristiansand with a RIP, but your prince seems to be quite normal.
But the tendency that the behavior become more rude on the sea every year is clear. Bigger boats, less knowledge, less common sense, more alcohol. the number of boat-accidents is increasing.

Where I dive I'm usually OK when it comes to the boats, despite being right in the middle of the "marine highway" between Lillesand and Grimstad. Right outside our cottage the shore is littered with small, but treacherous, islets and rocks. In between the islets is the best places to dive and the boats usually stay clear despite passing 100-200m away. If any of you are in the area in mid August don't hesitate to contact me and we could dive together.

Hi guys,
I live just east of Krisitiansand....Skudeviga/Randesund...I am heading into the water in a few minutes and hope to get some fish. Last weekend I saw a lot of flatfish and a few small cod in one of the coves...Did however see a really big salmon! Something I have never seen in the water before. Very nice to see. I managed a few oysters but no fish.

Hopefully it will be better today, but the water looks very green and in the past week there has been a lot of growth as the water temp has increased slightly as has te air temp. I have been trying to sort out my camera (GoPro) with a flat lens port so hopefully I will get some clear footage. The wind is also howling so not sure how it will be once I get out.

There are a few decent places out on the islands around me...I also spoke the guy in ABDykk in Kristiansand and he gave me a couple places from land to dive...but since I have my boat, it is out to the islands.

Anders and I went out a during Easter and found some good spots but no fish...I was not in for too long as I had a 3mm suit on.....(thanks for getting me in the water Anders! :) )

I have to agree with the comments of the boat traffic in the region....to many boats and too little common sense.

I might be around in late july for a few days and will post a message here if anyone is available.

Darryll

Hi Darryll the weather is fine in south norway, any footage with your GoPro. Te company I work for makes some trouble with my vacations in July/August. I hope I'll be in Mandal then we can dive together. We will see.

Cheers Tobi

It was a good dive Darryll ;) A bit cold, but excellent visibility!

@Anders
I will contact You, when some Days before I arrive. I hope we can fix a dive.
Sounds good to me. The weather dictates the diving around my cottage, so we can usually only be reasonably sure of how the conditions will be a day or two in advance anyway. If the weather is decent we can use our boat so we can get around a bit more than on a shore dive. That'll increase our options and hopefully the catch :)

I'm at the cottage now. The water looked very clear on my morning swim today, I'm guessing viz is 8m+ at the moment.. If you want to get in touch for a dive some time this week or the next, just PM me and we can arrange the rest by phone.
