Hi everybody,
i've heard conflicting reports regarding buying longfins
(not normal scuba fins) in Thailand and around s/e asia.

Is it possible to rock up to a dive shop and buy me some
Cressis/Picassos etc etc?

I've heard form some that it's nigh on impossible
and from another that its easy...

Has anybody on the forum successfully done this?
It would be great to know before i go away (1 week!)
so any help would be appreciated.

cheers,
matty

Info on Hong Kong

I live in Hong Kong, and although there are a few good scuba stores around, freediving gear is practically non-existent.

One store has just started selling Cressi Garas (not 3000's) for over US$100, which is pretty expensive.

I've bought all my gear from the deeperblue store. Even with the DHL shipping, it's still way cheaper then buying locally, for both scuba and freediving gear.

Don't know about the rest of SE Asia though!

Hi Sickboy & Reefmatt,

Hope this reply is not too late.

I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There a couple of stores here selling Mares freediving fins (can you believe it, I bought a pair recently and now can't recall the name...something quattro someting...!) and Cressi Gara 2000 series. There are in the range of USD 70/- per pair after discount.

If you need the address and contact pls feel free to email me.

Cheers

hi matt

i looked for stuff in kotao and phuket last year. shopes in kotao don't stock freediving stuiff (i was told) but in phuket i found some. big stores there with a few bits for freediving. bought gara2000 for 110 usd and a bandit for 50 usd. still, the choice was very limited and i was lucky they had my size fins.

i'd buy in the u.k or mail order.

cheers
