c4 fins

G'day, have just joined so I can read threads. I'm a commercial paua (abalone) diver in New Zealand. Recently broke a C4 super falcon blade (30) & need to replace. Anyone know the difference between Mustang3 & Fuego? I'll probably go for 40 stiffness this time.

contact aquanaut nz they are the agents for c4 in nz and have mustang 3 in 40 weight
avalible or you could contact ben at dive picton as they also have c4 fins

Be prepared to pay through the nose if you want C4s from Aquanaut. I would strongly recommend going for something different for price at least. Also, why so stiff?

Why so stiff? because I've been using super falcon 30 for 4 yrs & find them quite soft. I sometimes have to carry an additional 15-18 kg up from bottom. Extra power might help.

It seems that if you have 40s its best not to post it on the forums, least without your flame suit on. I got my C4s for around $500 AUD I will message you the details.

Hi Shiraz,

The only difference between the Mustang 3 and the Fuegos is that the former has the new geometry flap and the latter does not.

I have a pair of the original Mustang blades in 40 and the Fuegos in 30. In my opinion the Fuegos is a better option for you. The flap on the Mustang 3 are a nice feature for pure apnea, but it is very easy to damage the flaps by accidentally banging them on the rocky bottom when you are abalone diving. Even though these carbon fins are very sturdy, hitting that unprotected carbon flap sideways on a sharp rocks will damage it.

If you are a commercial abalone diver, I would imagine you multiple times a week and are well conditioned for harder fins. All I can say about the 40s if that if you legs can handle them, you will be amazed by their power and speed.

In my case, my 40s make my ankles hurt after more than 2 hours of diving.

DiveInn/Scubastore is probably your best bet to get them at a vaguely reasonable price.

C4s do seem a slightly unusual choice for commercial paua. If that's what you're after though, you can get Feugos or Falcons - blades only from the above. I would think the latter would be better for you. Presumably you have a brand of footpocket that fits you well by now and you'd be wearing through footpockets before you're breaking blades no doubt.

Thanks guys, Fuego 40's it is. Have used super falcon for 4 yrs with proper c4 foot pockets - there is no substitute! Foot pockets have holes worn in the back of heel (repaired with bike tyre puncture repair kit) so time for a full set.

I have used my fuego 40s a bit now. It was very surprising to me that they feel softer than my Cressi LD 3000s. I am so glad that I didn't get the 30s. How do you tell that they are infact 40s. They have a sticker saying 40. Can you tell the stiffness from the seriel number. It feels like I have 25s with a 40 sticker.
