Caman HF?

Dobs, for sure double bands can help aspetto. I sometimes use them on the T20. I still think they're not necessary, but no doubt they give some "plus" in power and range for big distant fish.

For Mike's last question: My sea is the Thyrrenian in central Tuscany. I dive inshore (no boat) and the water is clear only after two days of wind from land, no rain, no surf, which is pretty rare. Also consider that if the wind is from north, the fish tend to hide in very deep holes and crevices (I don't know why). So it's not frequent to have days in which fish swim in clear open water. On those days I always bring on my 110.
When they make a video, they choose the right place, time and weather for a decent visibility.

I imagine that this is on the mainland, Sardegna must be similar to Ibiza right?

This is the "Katyusha" 4 rubber fitting that you can attach on a normal trb Gabbiano muzzle. Rubbers stay side by side. I'm told that the whole also works as "stabilizer" side wings.

i have both totemsub and esperasub.Esperasub looks much sturdy than totemsub. Espera is teak and totemsub is mahogany, thats why i guess. I did not had a chance to test esperasub but it seems that it will need much less maintenance and care than mahogany totemsub guns. I also think it much better to go with double bands on a 100 cm gun rather than 110-120cm gun. You will have much more range with double band setup and more versality due to better mobility and size will fit for other applications better if you unload one of the bands.

Regarding double bands I think it's about personal preference, a choice you have to make that's up to you. Generally speaking: with a double band set, what you gain in range and penetration you loose in tracking, accuracy and balance. But more specifically, it depends on the gun: the trigger must be good enough not to become rocky and to keep safe under the double load. The mass of the gun must be big enough to endure the double recoil and to keep in balance. The barrell must be stiff enough to resist from bending.
I haven't tried the Gabbiano with double band set up, but in theory it has everything to perform well: a very strong trigger, a wide ellyptical barrell for tracking, an important mass to endure recoil. Presently, the only gun I'm using with double bands is a T20 carbon, and it perfoms pretty well but nothing special: I much prefer it with only one band on.

Spago, Thanks for the info, yep I thought so, and read it more the once, "normal" guns with doubles mean problems..well many times.
So the only solid option for a long range gun, is a wooden one, or a pneumatic, or a very long carbon gun...
Well, I got to make a decision soon..otherwise it will be Alkaseltzer without any dentex

Well this thread is about the Cayman HF, so let's remember that its Hydrofoiled HF barrell is reported to be much stiffer than any wooden or carbon barrell.
I can't tell you "Buy the Cayman HF" cause I've not first hand experience with it, but stl the HF is supposed to be one of the best spearguns on the market talking of barrel stiffnes and efficient trigger.

You are right!!...I have got the flue at the moment, but next week I am going to take the Cayman for a spin again.
It is very accurate, my first shot was a mackerel, I had the real open ( all the line plus a bit of th real), the shot must have been at least 4.5 meters! (the Mackerel was under 1 kg)
I do really like it, 2 little things,...I would like to use another real, and the second thing is the paint.
The real is an omer Mach 50, strangely connected to the barrel, maybe the new Alu real...
Strange that Omer did not think about it, after 2 sessions the barrel looksw damaged already.
Maybe a coating? any ideas?

I have never owned one, but I did not like the feel of it, a bit plastic.
Probably a personal thing!

I have a Match 30: the 50 is the bigger brother. I can swear on it: smooth lining, sweet friction, easy rolling, solid construction.
Metal reels surely look and "feel" better than plastic ones, but they are heavier too so they affect buoyancy and balance.
I have no clue for the barrell issue. But if I were to buy one, I'd sandpaper it and paint my own custom camo pattern (which I can't do on my rubberized Gabbiano...)

I've actually don't like metal reels, I have the omer pelagic and the rob Allen, metal reels are only good for wood guns, on your average euro gun, that will unbalance the gun. I always liked the looks of the match reels, you just confirmed that. I think in October time frame I will buying a Cayman HF.

You seems very active both underwater and on DB and a very keen ocean "fanatic" just as I am. You probably have read some of my posts about spearfishing and sailing. I'll be in Gibraltar from the 9th to the 29th of April. I'll be there to attend one week of classes and 2 weeks onboard sailing training with Allaboard sailing Academy. The intention is to get the RYA yachtmaster offshore certificate.
Although the plan is to be in Gibraltar to study and sail I am travelling with a load of fishing gear for both offshore trolling and spearfishing. After Gibraltar I'll go back for a month of work in Brazil and then to Greece to sail and fish.
I wonder if we could meet to go spearfishing once or just for a drink to tell some sea stories.

Guys, my buddy bought himself an omer Caman HF 110, alu, it looks fantasic, he bought it for 180Euro including real (mach 50), it looks to good to be true!
does anyone have one, comments??
