I just wanted to say I am excited to hear that Canada will be hosting 2004 AIDA World competition. Congrats to all involved to make this happen through CAFA. I can't wait to be out there to see all the action next summer.

This news is great!

Personally though, I emailed Kirk from CAFA and was asking for advice on starting freediving. I didn't get a response. What are they doing to promote the sport here in Canada I might ask? ( and I mean all of Canada)

Kirk has run freediving clinics all over Canada (west coast, east coast, alberta, saskatchewan etc...)

He generally receives HUNDREDS of e-mails per day, and I can say that we both get e-mails every day from people asking for advice on this or that, and there really isn't time to answer everyone.

If you want to learn how to use Microsoft products, you can take many courses here and there, but e-mailing Bill Gates won't be the most productive method and you probably won't get a reply. Think of Kirk as Bill Gates of Canadian freediving.

I think freediving is still a young enough to be a do-it-yourself sport - you can make it into what you want it to be. Canada is fortunate to have a strong and tight-knit community even when a good fraction of its members are geographically far apart. But join CAFA and you'll get right into the stream of things with their Freedivecanada yahoo group. But starting your own group is good too. You build it so they will come.

Sorry if this is a little off-topic. So. Congratulations to CAFA on getting the Worlds 2004! I have no doubt this event will be a smashing success!

I see.
I am still happy about the news nonetheless. & I'll keep my ears perked for those clinics you mentioned.
