has anyone used the Canon Powershot S410 for underwater pics?
reason i ask is because i just recieved one as a birthday present along with the underwater housing.

also, is the video length limited by the memory or by the camera itself?

I can't speak for your camera particularly, I have the Canon s50 Powershot.
The maximum length of Mpg that I can take is 3 minutes ,that is whatever size card I use.
The reason as I understand it is the Buffer memory in other words the amount of data the camera can buffer before it has to start writing to the card.

Thanks Huan... any chance that you could post an image taken with the S500?

that is what i was affraid of. oh well, with a one giga memory i gather i will be able to take a few 3 minute clips then use microsoft movie editor to mix it up and add some music

I tried to upload a sample but apparently my quota has been exceeded!
I only have 1.34 Mb
I'll try and sort out this thing.

i found these images taken the same camera and housing using an internal strobe and it looks pretty inpressive. :wave

For unmatched functionality and versitility you can't go wrong with a Nikin D100 DSLR. there are also housings available for this model at http://www.backscatter.com/ I'm hoping to add this very unit to my arsenal in '05. also, Nikon has a rebate on the camera itself right now through end of year...
