Also has anyone dived Grotto before, was thinking about trying it out?

Working on monday....
dived grotto afew times....been camping in the dunes there too....great place
you need to go when its very calm tho...grotto gets lank rough!
what i do is check melkbos...if melkbos is perfect...grotto will be better

ok, update from the wife, Im may not be able to go on monday (gotta get the car fixed *sigh*)

But i will be in Fish Hoek on Sunday. Anyone up for a dive at Soeties?

Jim - would love to although my Saturday is super busy, gonna have to give it a miss.

Awesome weekend folks - red tide in Elands, but ended up on a private farm 25km's north of Lamberts...tons of bugs cooked right on the beach as they were brought out viz was a bit poor for spotting fish but the crays made up for it

Water on the atlantic seaboard side looked super super clean yesterday afternoon..anyone feel like doing Bantry bay while it lasts?

Hi all!

Don't think I have all your email addresses, but just wanted to let you know about a crazy event myself and some friends are organising this saturday the 22nd at the Fire and Ice Hotel in Cape Town, fun breath hold comps in their cool pool.

See attached PDF for details, do come!

Damn why do I miss all the fun stuff? anyway I'll be in Cape town before the end of this year (mid december?)as my term in PE looks like it's coming to an end and I'm looking forward to dive in the kelp again, although I think I'm in for a moer of a temperature shock! I'll try get hold of you all when I hit CT, I'll definitely be looking for some buddies.till then ..don't black out

anyone jumping in the water this weekend?
thinking about either melkbos or if i can get petrol rooiels for some kreef

Went for a first dive of kreef season yesterday as the swell was up this side for the whole weekend....melkbos was still abit rough..but if you hold onto the kelp and rocks its manageable...water was dirty about half a metre viz and about an hour into lowtide....only got 1 kreef and had to search cos of the viz.
tasted good tho
enjoy the season guys!

Judging by the Mrs Balls, id say thats very nice size kreef! rofl

Greg you must really come dive for kreef with me at Soetwater, I go every monday and also for the last few weeks on sunday after Church in the mornings. Generally you do not get the sizes you would at melkbos but you almost always get your quota.:friday

Hey Lenny, might be keen for some diving on sunday, weather doesnt look like its going to be too hot though - whats soetwater like after a mild westerly's been blowing?

hmm, dunno

I just dive in whatever the weather, you dont need much viz for kreefing maybe 1/2m-1m.
If the water is too rough we just go to pensioners pool in kommetjie (always calm). Tides are more of an issue, cos it's such a shlep diving bait out

ey...ya was about 900 grams ....but only got the 1
prolly going for a dive tomorrow..not sure where tho....anyone know of any viz reports?
was thinking of going up to bettys bay area..
i can only dive the weekends....mondays are a no go for me at the moment...until holidays i guess.....
prolly not gna be able to dive sunday as well as saturday...gfriend wont be too happy

Reece do you still stay in Seapoint?

Windfinder says we will have a moderate SE ( 9Knots ), also a kreefing buddy of mine says that it will be a sring or neap tide or something like that, which he seems to think makes for awsum freaked out diving. So we might be surprised, so im taking my gun just in case.

Unfortunetly i can only leave here at abou 11-12am.

not sea point but close enough, in gardens. Looks like Kommetjie will be getting some big swell pushing through (windguru and magic seaweed predicting 3m+ ) from SW - how will this affect Soetwater?

ew doesnt sound good, we will have to see. Pensioners is always a last resort

Hey Reece, is that you Reece from sea point pool! Paul here - didn't know you were on deeper blue.

Hey Cape Town guy thats lekker kreef in ya fridge!
