Carbon Blades Protection Film

Hey guys, I got a new pair of carbon fins and I would like to add some protection to stop them from getting scratched for both aesthetic reasons and also durability.

I see that Leader-fins offer a film with their new fins at around ~£30. So this stuff is out there!

Has anyone retro-fitted some film to their carbon blades? Does it effect the performance of the blade? (increase stiffness?) Would like to hear about other peoples experiences and what type and thickness of film that was used.

hi, I'am also interested in this protection option. Have you find any news? I've send a Mail to a foil shop with the leaderfins foil video, they recommend this foil http://www.selbstklebefolien.com/Klebefolie/Klebefolie-Premium-615-123cm--113.html , but I also not sure have negative effects for the performace.

I have carbon fins so I didn't want to go with anything other than clear. I went for some automotive film in the end, it is high stretch and very thin at 135microns, the product I purchased was 'KPMF 135 Aliphatic Stoneguard'. I haven't noticed any difference in performance but I'm sure it would take more of a pro than me to notice that. I bought enough to re-do them a few times, the film is already scratched a bit all over on my fins and when it gets really bad I'll just peel it off and do it again. It's exactly the protection I was looking for!

so, I've found a car wrapping firm near by my home, they give me some rests from the 3M 1080 wrapping foil (100microns). Great stuff, super easy to use (dry) and looks like high end magnesium cobalt amantium blades
Tonight at train I will test the behavior, but in some dry test's I can't see any difference in performance.
