Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me clarify the different requirements placed on freedive instructors by each of the major certifying agencies (AIDA, SSI, and PADI)?

What are the start up and ongoing costs of maintaining active membership as an instructor?

What fees need to be paid to the certifying agencies for certification of a single student?

For PADI and SSI, must the instructor be attached to a dive shop or dive operator, or can they "freelance" and certify directly through the agency?

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I searched to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

For padi you don't have to be a attached dive school/centre. Ssi you need to be connected.

Feeds for ssi level 1 around 50 to 100 euro depending on what course material and log book you give. I guess padi is about the same. (+ annual feeds)

In the end the cost for ssi and padi wil be close together. Aida I don't know but guess about the same.

The better questions is. How do I want to teach and what dive centre philosophy do you want to use.

Go have a talk with instructors (trainers) of all organisations and then choose.
