Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience purchasing/ acquiring certification for their scales in Australia? Struggling to find any information on how I would be able to do this.

Thanks in advance!

Davis

Yes mate. Purchase scales which are certified, they usually cost a bit more than identical ones which arent. The certification only lasts for 12 months so they need to be tested & re certified or a new set purchased. I usually just purchase a new "in test" 100kg set every year before the Coral Sea season. For larger fish most game fishing clubs will open their gantry for a "donation" & for records for smaller fish the local spearfishing clubs will usually try to help. I always have a 100 kg set in my land cruiser & smaller digitals in the boat also. The problem with digital is they require batteries & hate water. I would say that about 70% of extended spearfishing charters I have been on the skippers or boats set has failed & they are NEVER in test if they do work. I always take my own set & dont let them out of my sight.
