Sorry if I posted in the entirely wrong section. New here and new to spear fishing. I was wondering if one of you awesome people could provide me with a link or two to some cheap but effective gloves.

The one problem is that my polespear is kind of slippery. I'm not sure if neoprene would make it worse.

Thanks for the help!!!!

I just use some mechanics gloves from the hardware store. Can also make a grip.

I use self vulcanizing tape on my spears. Easy to come by, at least in the US, and makes the shaft very easy to hold. I even took off the heat shrink and twine that came with my Gat-Ku and put the self vulcanizing tape on it. it works much better now. I also whip the front end of the tape as it takes a beating, and starts rolling over itself after a couple of dozen shots.

I was thinking about doing that too... I also wanted to get gloves so the rubber wouldn't cut into my hands and so I could grab the fish with 'em... Oh, and lobster when the season comes around.

EDIT: I got some pretty nice gloves for 30$. I'm still gonna make the grip for the pole though. I'm thinkg about wrapping some kind of nylon rope around it but pretty spaced out. Then i'm gonna take some shrink tube stuff and put it over it to seal it down. How does that sound?

I got a decent set of gloves, but I wanna set up the grip now. The gloves kind of slip against the wet pole spear. It's not safe...

This is kinda non-related, but I use a little luggage handle thing that comes on duffle bags that will hold both straps together with velcro, it is incredible padding against the streched back tubing.

And why don't you try grip tape, like for skateboards?

I'm still using the self-vulcanizing tape for the spear, and am still very happy with it. The only extra is a knot of band tying twine around the tape at the front end of the wrap. It keeps the tape from rolling back when held for long periods.

I was unhappy with the nylon and heat shrink tubing that came with my Gat-Ku. I switched to the self-vulcanizing tape and it works much better for me.
