I'm not sure if I have this posted in the right location so I apologize if its wrong. I am moving and my new spearfishing will be the Chorpus Christi/south padre/Port Aransas area. I come form spearfishing lakes like bull shoals so naturally being inexperienced with the gulf my first concern is sharks. I spent time researching threads on sharks but they are all old threads. Are sharks really a concern around the oil rigs? or am I just a newbie. I am also interested in anything anyone can tell me about this area like groups or clubs, I hunt with a polespear and a Cressi Comanche 100.

Thanks
