Claiming damaged fins on insurance

Hi all,

As some of you know I snapped a monofin in Egypt in December. As it was particularly expensive I was hoping to claim this on my travel insurance.

Does anyone have any experience on claiming damaged fins through their insurance? Any advice on what I should tell them? Anything I shouldn't tell them? The fin snapped training in a pool and cannot be fixed. I can't say that it was damaged in the flight because I didn't query it with the airline so therefore don't have any proof/documentation from them.

Doesn't it has the brand waranty ? It seems like it failed in it's specifis use...

I couldn't see the end of the pool and got myself in a really bad position, so as a result the fin took a bend that would never have occurred during normal wear and tear. Certainly not a manufacturing fault, the fin was damn tough.
