Personally I am happy with using one coat of epoxy & top coating with two pack but there are some UV resistant epoxies out there for those determined to use it SB-112 Epoxy Resin

the problem i have with top coating with a different material is if you ever need to do a repair you will have to sand to wood to not have a contaminated surface .if its straight epoxy you only need to do a scuff sand and add a coat

i like the durability of epoxy. i'm gonna try the system three sb112 with a dust free chamber with a rotisserie. i'm gonna beat those damn bubbles. do i need the vacuum phil? does it do anything to help clear coats ?

if the temp is dropping bubbles will not be a problem . the gun not just the room needs to be brought up to temp and then drop around 20 deg as it cures . if it rises even 2 deg as its jelling you will get bubbles . putting the resin under vac before applying helps a little but its a extra step i dont do anymore , and unless you do it just right putting the whole gun with resin under vac will just cause more bubbles (the resin will foam from all the bubbles coming out of the pores)
i have tried just about everything to get my system down

thanks phil. i got just the plan. thanks to you. . since my ac in my house is usually at 76 deg. come to think of it, i can just cool the house to 70. put the stocks in the car on a hot day with the windows closed. just get a thermometer, to check the temp in the car, till it gets 95. thats easy,(i live in key west), then bring them in and do the deed, in the house and leave them hang in here to dry, on the rotisserie. horizontal or vertical to dry ?
